A revisão por pares influencia na qualidade do material impresso<br />
no ABO. Creio que o trabalho anônimo, gratuito e incansável dos<br />
revisores, disponibiliz<strong>and</strong>o horas e horas do seu trabalho altamente<br />
especializado na revisão e aprimoramento dos manuscritos enviados<br />
para publicação, nunca será adequadamente reconhecido. No<br />
entanto, ao final de cada ano, o ABO reconhece o seu esforço, public<strong>and</strong>o<br />
seus nomes.<br />
Na estrutura de um periódico científico os revisores “ad hoc” são<br />
promovidos a membros do Conselho Editorial após o seu amadurecimento<br />
e demonstração do valor das suas avaliações. O ABO está<br />
avali<strong>and</strong>o a renovação do seu Conselho Editorial e pretende promover<br />
alguns de seus mais ativos revisores para este Conselho.<br />
Por enquanto, fica aqui o nosso agradecimento aos revisores que<br />
colaboraram com os Arquivos Brasileiros de Oftalmologia em 2011!<br />

Peer review influences the quality <strong>of</strong> printed material in the ABO. I think<br />
the a<strong>non</strong>ymous, free <strong>and</strong> untiring work from the reviewers, providing<br />
hours <strong>and</strong> hours <strong>of</strong> their time in highly specialized review <strong>and</strong> improvement<br />
<strong>of</strong> the manuscripts submitted for publication, will never be properly<br />
recognized. However, at the end <strong>of</strong> each year, the ABO recognizes<br />
their effort, publishing their names.<br />
In the structure <strong>of</strong> a scientific journal, “ad hoc” reviewers are promoted<br />
to members <strong>of</strong> the Editorial Board after their maturation <strong>and</strong> demonstration<br />
<strong>of</strong> the value <strong>of</strong> their assessments. The ABO is considering the renewal<br />
<strong>of</strong> its Editorial Board <strong>and</strong> aims to promote some <strong>of</strong> its most active<br />
reviewers for this Board.<br />
For now, here is our thanks to the reviewers who collaborated with the<br />
Arquivos Brasileiros de Oftalmologia in 2011!<br />
