• <strong>CIAD</strong> <strong>II</strong> underscores the necessity of maintaining the dialogue between <strong>Africa</strong>n <strong>and</strong> Diasporic intellectuals between <strong>and</strong> after the meetings; • The <strong>Africa</strong>n Union should promote activities in the <strong>Diaspora</strong> as an important part of its organizational strategy, <strong>and</strong> reinforce <strong>and</strong> support the Directorate of Civil Society <strong>and</strong> <strong>Diaspora</strong> Relations (CIDO: <strong>Africa</strong>n Citizens Directorate of the <strong>Africa</strong>n Union), responsible for contacts with communities of <strong>Africa</strong>n origin in other countries; • <strong>Africa</strong>n communities <strong>and</strong> the countries of the <strong>Diaspora</strong> should support the work of the Directorate, in particular, <strong>and</strong> of the <strong>Africa</strong>n Union <strong>Diaspora</strong> Initiative, in general; • The <strong>Africa</strong>n Union should establish a Steering Committee of intellectuals to assist the Commission of the <strong>Africa</strong>n Union in preparing for <strong>CIAD</strong> <strong>II</strong>I. • In the best tradition of intellectual investigation with social responsibility, we aspire to work together with the Steering Committee in order to promote strategic cooperation among intellectuals <strong>and</strong> governmental authorities in <strong>Africa</strong> <strong>and</strong> the <strong>Diaspora</strong>, through organized <strong>and</strong> sustainable mechanisms. We also seek to develop protocols for the coordination of research, teaching, <strong>and</strong> dialogue, as well as other activities of strategic interest, in order to invigorate the <strong>Africa</strong>n Renaissance <strong>and</strong> integrate these activities with those of the <strong>Africa</strong>n Union <strong>and</strong> other multilateral initiatives. • The Federative Republic of Brazil, host of <strong>CIAD</strong> <strong>II</strong>, <strong>and</strong> the <strong>Africa</strong>n Union should consider the creation of an International Center of <strong>Africa</strong> <strong>and</strong> the <strong>Diaspora</strong> that, among other functions, would serve as one of reference points for enhancing cooperation among academic, intellectual, <strong>and</strong> artistic organizations <strong>and</strong> institutions, promoting regional meetings, scientific projects, seminars, artistic events, <strong>and</strong> youth encounters, among other activities, with the aim of deepening <strong>and</strong> encouraging <strong>Africa</strong>n thought worldwide. • The United Nations Educational, Scientific, <strong>and</strong> Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is invited to include in its program <strong>and</strong> budget for the 2008-2009 biennium <strong>and</strong> for its medium-term 2008-2013 strategy, support for <strong>CIAD</strong> <strong>II</strong> followup activities <strong>and</strong> other initiatives that promote the strengthening of ties between <strong>Africa</strong> <strong>and</strong> its <strong>Diaspora</strong>; • <strong>CIAD</strong> <strong>II</strong> is an example of the close relations between <strong>Africa</strong>n countries <strong>and</strong> countries of the 92 A Gr<strong>and</strong>e Refazenda, África e Diáspora Pós <strong>II</strong> <strong>CIAD</strong> • A 2ª Ciad realça a necessidade de que o diálogo entre os intelectuais africanos e da Diáspora seja mantido entre e após as reuniões; • A União <strong>Africa</strong>na deverá promover atividades da Diáspora como parte importante de seu organograma e reforçar e apoiar o Departamento da Sociedade Civil e das Relações com a Diáspora (Cido), responsável pelos contatos com as comunidades de origem africana em outros países; • As comunidades africanas e os países da Diáspora devem apoiar o trabalho do Departamento, em particular, e da Iniciativa da União <strong>Africa</strong>na para a Diáspora, em geral; • A União <strong>Africa</strong>na deverá estabelecer o Comitê de Coordenação de Intelectuais para auxiliar a Comissão da União <strong>Africa</strong>na nos preparativos da 3ª Ciad. • Na melhor tradição da investigação intelectual com responsabilidade social, aspiramos a trabalhar juntamente com o Comitê de Coordenação para promover a cooperação estratégica entre os intelectuais e autoridades governamentais na África e na Diáspora, por meio de mecanismos organizados e sustentáveis. Também buscaremos desenvolver modalidades para a coordenação da pesquisa, do ensino e do diálogo, bem como outras atividades de interesse estratégico, para dinamizar o Renascimento <strong>Africa</strong>no e integrar essas atividades com aquelas da União <strong>Africa</strong>na e outras iniciativas multilaterais. • O Governo da República Federativa do Brasil, anfitrião da 2ª Ciad e a União <strong>Africa</strong>na deverão considerar a criação de um Centro Internacional da África e da Diáspora que, entre outras atribuições, funcionaria como um dos pontos de referência para ampliar a cooperação entre as organizações e instituições acadêmicas, intelectuais e artísticas africanas e da diáspora, promovendo reuniões setoriais, projetos científicos, seminários, manifestações artísticas e encontros de jovens, entre outras atividades, a fim de adensar e encorajar um pensamento africano mundial. • A Organização das Nações Unidas para a Educação, Ciência e Cultura (Unesco) é convidada a incluir em seu programa e orçamento para o biênio 2008-2009, e para sua estratégia e médio prazo 2008-2013, o apoio a atividade de seguimento da 2ª Ciad e outras iniciativas que promovam o estreitamento dos laços entre a África e a Diáspora; • A 2ª Ciad é um marco das estreitas relações entre os países africanos e os países da Diáspora e testemunho da crescente importância da África no mundo;
• A concretização do Renascimento <strong>Africa</strong>no é elemento essencial para que o século XXI inicie uma era em que todos os povos e países tenham acesso à riqueza e à cultura, em pleno respeito da dignidade, dos direitos e dos valores das crianças, mulheres, idosos e homens de todas as etnias e crenças.” <strong>Diaspora</strong>, as well as a witness to the growing importance of <strong>Africa</strong> in the world; • The realization of the <strong>Africa</strong>n Renaissance is an essential element for the twenty-first century’s initiation of an era in which all peoples <strong>and</strong> countries may have access to wealth <strong>and</strong> culture, in full respect for the dignity, rights, <strong>and</strong> values of children, women, the elderly, <strong>and</strong> humans of every ethnicity <strong>and</strong> belief.”
