Construction of suspended pull-off areas on the Rio-Niterói Bridge<br />
Two suspended pull-off areas in operation, 80 meters long and 4.7 meters wide; one on the side toward Rio de Janeiro<br />
and the other toward Niterói.<br />
Improved safety and traffic flow, providing parking for support vehicles, making their action more agile in the case of<br />
an accident, as well as removing vehicles involved in accidents more quickly, consequently minimizing traffic backups.<br />

Construction of rubber defense mechanisms on the “dolphins” protecting the pillars of the Rio-Niterói<br />
Bridge<br />
Located on the main span and the secondary spans of the Rio-Niterói Bridge, the “dolphins” are masses of concrete<br />
that protect the pillars against strikes by boats.<br />
The main function of the rubber defense mechanisms is to protect boats in case they strike them, minimizing the impact<br />
and reducing the possibility of the accident causing an oil spill in Guanabara Bay.<br />

Positive impact Improved safety, comfort and traffic flow for users of the highways in urban areas, separating local traffic from through<br />
traffic. These changes meet the requests of the city governments and, consequently, of local inhabitants.<br />

Positive impact Improved safety, comfort and traffic flow at the intersection of three of the most important highways in the State of<br />
São Paulo, mainly for the users from bordering districts (local community).<br />

Restoration of pavement by the <strong>CCR</strong> RodoNorte concessionaire, with the use of ecological asphalt<br />
Rebuilding the structure of the pavement and applying a layer of asphalt made with rubber from old tires, at 61 km of<br />
the BR-376 that connects Ponta Grossa to Apucarana, in the State of Paraná.<br />
Recycling materials that are difficult to dump (old tires), as well as obtaining pavement with better safety conditions<br />
(adherence) for highway users, and greater comfort (less noise) for the bordering community.<br />
