A Fiat e a Bienal Brasileira de Design
Fiat and the Brazilian Design Biennial
as pessoas, o espaço e o tempo.
Design is in Fiat’s DNA. It is a valuable attribute that
accompanies the trajectory of the brand in every new car that
hits the market, arousing passions. Design is a dynamic element,
which is always self-renewing, and constitutes a technological
and innovative component of our cars. It is a competitive
differential that goes far beyond appearance because it carries
within it implicit concepts packed with meaning and culture. At
the same time that it differentiates, design also unites and brings
together, as demonstrated in collaborative initiatives which
Fiat has participated in, the best example being the Concept
Fiat Mio car project – an open source platform in the “Creative
Commons”, which received over 14,000 contributions on what
the car of the future would be like.
Fiat’s participation in the Brazilian Design Biennial is guided
by this concept. Encouraging the emergence of new talent,
propagating the culture of design and contributing to its
development as a creative link between technology and industry
are some of the goals we have in common with the Paraná
Design Center and which fully warrant Fiat’s sponsorship of
the Brazilian Design Biennial 2010 Curitiba, as we also did in
the previous Brasilia edition.
In this edition, now in Curitiba, the Design Biennial carries on
its mission of providing an important stimulus to innovation,
presenting what’s at the forefront of design, in products that are
increasingly more beautiful, functional and environmentally
friendly, becoming one with the city in its finest social and
cultural venues. This shows, therefore, that another function
of design is to mediate between people, space and time. It’s
yet one more demonstration of its potential to make society
more dynamic, vigorous, creative, innovative, productive and
competitive - giving greater value to aesthetic refinement and
the well-being of people.
Vice President of Fiat Group in Latin America
We believe that culture is a process fueled by restlessness, where
the reinterpretation of ideas and varied repertoires announce
what is really new. New that inspires and is taken on as a
symbol that represents a group, an era, a reality. Design is the
essence of this symbolism, because it embodies cultural values
in the forms and expressions, reviving our memory and sense of
belonging, and, when multiplied and distributed on a global
scale takes us back to what is personal and unique.
We are participating in the Brazilian Design Biennial on the
conviction that design is an important engine of innovation
that stimulates interrelationship between the most diverse areas
of life in society. Everything around us is the result of some type
of design, thus a process of construction of ideas and reflection
on the diversity of languages, mediums and realities. It is
strategic in our program of entrepreneurship and sustainability.
Together with the Paraná Design Center, the Ministry of
Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, the Competitive
Brazil Movement, the Paraná State Industrial Federation and
other partners, we are part of a group inserting itself into what
has been accomplished by many others since the first Design
Biennial. Now in Curitiba, it projects the city and the State
with its features, expectation and potential into the construction
of the Brazil Brand.
The Brazilian Design Biennial is aligned with an agenda of
cooperative development, promoting a creative economy as the
strategic basis for the coherent development of a municipality
or region, ensuring a closer look at local creative vocations and
their global potential for dialogue.
Therefore, we believe it is essential to collaborate with a network
of players that add quality to the development of a creative,
active economy, bringing in more perspectives for transformation
to promoting the fundamental values of human relations.
Creative development
O design é a essência dessa simbologia,
Estratégico no
