Memorial Brasileiro do Design
Tão logo terminou a exposição principal da Bienal no Palácio
Iguaçu, instalou-se o Memorial Brasileiro do Design, no
edifício da Secretaria de Estado da Cultura do Paraná, com
acesso pela Rua Cruz Machado, no 98. Ainda que modesto,
suas quatro salas deram lugar ao primeiro museu específico de
design do continente americano e segundo no mundo, depois
do Design Museum, às margens do Rio Tâmisa, em Londres.
Lamentavelmente, esse ato pioneiro não ultrapassou o tempo
de uma década, perdendo seu acervo e o início de significativa
memória.
Brazilian Design Memorial
Soon after the Biennial main exhibit was over at Palácio Iguaçu,
the Brazilian Design Memorial was set up in the building housing
the Paraná State Department for Culture, with access via Rua
Cruz Machado, no 98. Albeit modest, its four rooms housed the first
museum dedicated specifically to design in the American continent
and the second in the world, after the Design Museum on the banks of
the Thames, in London. Sadly, that pioneering action did not survive
one decade, losing its collection and the beginning of a significant
history.
