Although there are other companies that perform extraction of clay for the manufacture
of ceramic artifacts in the region, Santa Maria Ceramics in Pimenta Bueno, Rondônia
was chosen as a strategy to restrict the scope of this study since it is a representative
sample of the industry and is subject of a forefront process of complaints because
the use of fish culture in the region. In this regard, data was collected on the production
process involving different items of investment in infrastructure and/or operational.
Data Analysis
The data was analyzed qualitative and quantitatively, as it is an exploratory-descriptive
research. The ordering of the concepts and fundamentals that came from the related
literature sources made it possible to identify processes and methods that are more
convenient to carry out the recovery of the degraded areas for the extraction of clay
through fish culture. The measurements carried out in the field provided a quantitative
assessment of production, thereby constituting a measure of its efficiency, according to
the function for which it was deployed.
Results and Discussion
Considering the various aspects involved in the recovery of degraded areas due to
the extraction of clay, the basic steps and procedures that should guide the work in the
case of ceramic enterprises can be listed (Figure 1).
It was included, among the planning activities involving the entrepreneur, a proper
and careful assessment of the installed degradation. Furthermore, there was the necessary
participation of environmental agencies (IBAMA and SEDAM) legally responsible
for the review, approval and control of the recovery.
The central element in the sequence of steps and procedures tends to be the recovery
plan. The plan fulfills both the role of an instrument of planning and negotiation,
and is potentially capable of integrating and harmonizing during the procedures
of preparation and analysis, solutions that meet the intentions of the entrepreneur and
the duties of public agencies involved.
The approval of the plan promotes the implementation of planned measures, including
those for the installation of the future use of the area.
