— 32 — tas do manguezal conseguem sobreviver graças a adaptaçâo que apresentam ao meio adverso. No manguezal, as plantas que o constituem distribuem-se da periferia para o interior, em funçâo da maior ou menor salinidade no solo e do movimento oscilatório das mares. Onde a salinidade é mais intensa, prédomina o (Rhizophora Triangle), mangue verdadeiro com ârvores até 10 a 15 métros de altura. Esta planta consegue fixar-se ao solo pela emissâo de raizes aéreas em forma de arco. Mais acima, onde os solos permanecem inundados menor tempo, mas, ainda o teor de sal é elevado, aparece o mangue siriuba (Avicennia tomentosa) e que sera substituïdo onde os solos sâo mais firmes pelo mangue branco (Lagtincularia racemosa) com ârvores de 2 a 3 métros de altura. Ainda ligado aos manguezais observa-se, nas faixas superiores menos salgadas principalmente na regiâo de Cubatâo, o Hibiscus tiliaceus e uma grande samambaia do gênero Acrostichum. O mangue prôpriamente dito caracteriza-se pela ausência de vegetaçâo herbâcea. Formaçôes florestais: Dentre as formaçôes florestais destacamos, pela sua importância, os seguintes subtipos: a) floresta latifoliada tropical; b) floresta latifoliada tropical semidecidua; c) floresta latifoliada tropical ûmida de encosta; d) floresta aciculifoliada ou mata de araucaria; e) floresta mista de araucaria e podocarpus; e f) floresta subtropical de altitude. Floresta latifoliada tropical: — A floresta latifoliada tropical é a formaçâo vegetal mais imponente que encontramos no Estado de Sâo Paulo. Arvores de trinta métros de altura, de grossos troncos, a ausência de aspecto ûmido consequente da menor precipitaçâo e maior numero de représentantes da familia das leguminosas, sâo os principais aspectos fisionômicos desta formaçâo vegetal. Dentre as espécies que sobressaem nesta comunidade podemos citar a peroba (Aspidospzrma sp.), pau d'alho (Gallesia gorazema), figueira branca (Fiais doliaria, Mart.), além do palmito (Euterpe edulis) e inûmeras lianas. (Foto 7) Este tipo de vegetaçâo é mais caracteristico da Terra Roxa Légitima, Terra Roxa Estruturada, Latosol Vermelho Escuro e do Podzólico Vermelho Amarelo, na regiâo do litoral. Estas unidades de mapeamento caracterizam-se por apresentar perfis profundos, com textura pesada, mas, com boas propriedades fïsicas, possuindo satisfatória capacidade de retençâo
