The hawaiian Cane Planter's Association Rapid Chemical Method<br />

and the Phosphorus/clay index, developed by the author.<br />

This index represents the ratio between mg P2O5 extracted by hot<br />

0,5 N KOH solution, and the percentage of clay.<br />

The P/A index gave a better correlation with crop responses in<br />

sugar cane fertilizer experiments, than the H.S.P.A. — R.C.M.<br />

method, although the latter is easier and quicker. Both gave statist<br />

tically significant correlation with the experimental results.<br />
