Como informa SNODGRASS (1935 - Principles of insect
morphology):
"The male genitalia in Coleoptera, as in Orthoptera, are
phallic structures only, there being in general no accessory
or periphallic armature on the genital segments. There are,
therefore, no elements of the genital complex that can be re-
fered directly to the gonopods; movable claspers (harpago-
nes) of the ninth segment are always absent, and, in the male
ar least, styli are never present in any form. The ninth and
tenth segment of the abdomen are usually much reduced and
retracted into the eighth segment, and in some forms the eighth
is concealed within the seventh. The phallic organs consist
essentially ofa tubular aedeagus and variously developed phal-
lobase usually provided with parameres".
