CAMBIO E CONTINUIDADE MIGRATORIA: DE SALCEDA<br />
DE CASELAS A AMÉRICA (1861–1920)<br />

RESUMO<br />
No artigo pretendemos <strong>da</strong>r a coñecer a información que ofrecen as fontes nominativas<br />
municipais (padróns de habitantes e padróns fiscais) para o coñecemento do fenómeno<br />
emigratorio que tivo lugar en Salce<strong>da</strong> de Caselas entre os anos sesenta do século xix e 1920. A<br />
dita información permitiunos identificar a plurali<strong>da</strong>de de movementos emigratorios (de curto<br />
alcance, intrapeninsular e ultramarina), así como a distinta evolución destes ao longo do período<br />
analizado. O noso enfoque prestou especial atención á varie<strong>da</strong>de de situacións parroquiais, o<br />
que nos permitiu establecer patróns emigratorios diferenciados. Por último, ofrecemos unha<br />
caracterización sociolóxica do colectivo emigrante, establecendo diferenzas entre os emigrantes<br />
ultramarinos e aqueles que optaron por unha mobili<strong>da</strong>de de curto alcance.<br />

ABSTRACT<br />
In his article, we analyze the information offered by the nominative municipal sources (census<br />
of inhabitants and tax censuses) to find information about the phenomenon of emigration that<br />
occurred in Salce<strong>da</strong> de Caselas between the 1860s and 1920. The information allows us to<br />
identify a diversity of migratory movements (short-distance, intra-peninsular and overseas), as<br />
well as a number of differences in their evolution during the period under analysis. We focus<br />
particularly on the variety of parish situations, which allowed us to establish differentiated<br />
emigration patterns. Finally, we offer a sociological characterisation of the emigrant community,<br />
establishing differences between overseas emigrants and those who chose short-distance<br />
mobility.<br />
