Background: quality of life (QoL) impairment is common in Chronic Chagas Cardiomyopathy
(CCC) which courses frequently with heart failure. We made the assessment of QoL in CCC
patients before and after renin angiotensin system inhibition (RASi) and carvedilol addition.
Methods: quality of Life was analysed from a double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in 42 patients
with Trypanosoma cruzi infection and cardiomyopathy. All patients received enalapril and
spironolactone. Subsequently, were randomly assigned to placebo (n=20) and carvedilol (n=19).
Assessment of QoL was made by SF 36 questionnaire.
Results: there were a negative correlation between total, physical and psychosocial domains with
Framinghan score (all p
