It studies the live broadcasting of the "Círio de Nazaré" procession by
Liberal TV Station - Belém, from 1983 to 2000 (except 1986). It analyzes the
creation of the media spectacle of that procession, focusing the Liberal live
coverage into three time spans: 1983-90, 1991-96 and 1997-2000. It shows
results from the analysis of the tapes containing the recording of those
coverages, bibliography research, interviews and observations from the
production and the broadcast of the event (in 2000). It presents the "Círio de
Nazaré" from its origin in 1793 to these days. It notes the inception of brazilian
TV networks, observing the context in which Marajoara and Liberal TV stations
appear in Pará State. It registers the first external coverage of the procession,
generated by Marajoara TV Station, as well as Liberal first live broadcastings of
it since 1976.
