Ingredi<strong>en</strong>ts:<br />

2 cups flour.<br />

1 te<strong>as</strong>poonful baking powder.<br />

3 tablespoonfuls butter.<br />

½ cup milk.<br />

Pinch of salt.<br />

Preparation:<br />

SCONES<br />

Mix the flour and butter, add the salt and th<strong>en</strong> mix in the<br />

milk a little at a time. With floured hands knead lightly to soft<br />

dough, adding a little more milk if necessary. Roll out ev<strong>en</strong>ly but<br />

lightly about one finger thick on a floured board. Cut out with a<br />

p<strong>as</strong>try cutter using a quick sharp motion, but do not twist. Cook<br />

on a gre<strong>as</strong>ed baking sheet near the top of a pre-heated ov<strong>en</strong> at<br />

220ºC for 12-15 minutes.<br />

For “Fruit Scones” add a tablespoonful of sugar and two<br />

tablespoonfuls of dried fruit before adding the milk.<br />
