É importante para o médico radiologista conhecer
a rotina radiológica que deve ser empregada nos pacientes
com SD, visando ao diagnóstico da IAA, saber como
deve ser mensurada a DAO, conhecer os valores considerados
normais para a DAO e as peculiaridades das
primeiras vértebras cervicais no paciente pediátrico, e
saber quando estão indicados outros métodos de imagem
como complementação, evitando, assim, interpretações
errôneas dos achados radiográficos e exposições
desnecessárias do paciente à radiação ionizante.
