É importante para o médico radiologista conhecer<br />

a roti<strong>na</strong> radiológica que <strong>de</strong>ve ser empregada nos pacientes<br />

com SD, visando ao diagnóstico da IAA, saber como<br />

<strong>de</strong>ve ser mensurada a DAO, conhecer os valores consi<strong>de</strong>rados<br />

normais para a DAO e as peculiarida<strong>de</strong>s das<br />

primeiras vértebras cervicais no paciente pediátrico, e<br />

saber quando estão indicados outros métodos <strong>de</strong> imagem<br />

como complementação, evitando, assim, interpretações<br />

errôneas dos achados radiográficos e exposições<br />

<strong>de</strong>snecessárias do paciente à radiação ionizante.<br />
