ABSTRACT<br />

This dissertation addresses the Mass Customization mapping and analysis of the<br />

literature through the social networks analysis. Moreover, it also presents the<br />

development of a new framework for development of Mass Customization capability<br />

in automotive industry. The main objective is to verify the impact of enablers<br />

Production Planning, Manufacturing & Assembly, Product Development, Sales &<br />

Marketing and Supply & Logistics in the development of Mass Customization<br />

capability in automotive industry. Primarily, the main objective was achieved through<br />

three articles. In the first article it was done a literature review and Mass<br />

Customization was mapped through social network analysis and clustering analysis.<br />

These analyzes allowed the understanding of the relationship between mass<br />

customization and complementary knowledge groups. It was also possible to define a<br />

research agenda based on social network analysis. The second article presents the<br />

development of the framework and the identification of research variables. Also, it is<br />

realized the initial validation of the data collection instrument and the research<br />

framework to verify the scale reliability and perform an exploratory factor analysis.<br />

Finally, the third article discusses the reliability of the framework validation for<br />

companies in the automotive sector in the state of Paraná. The research is<br />

descriptive and uses a qualitative approach, through a survey. As final results, it was<br />

possible to define a research agenda for Mass Customization and also identify the<br />

partial validation of the framework research companies in the automotive sector in<br />

Paraná.<br />
