Subfamília TRYPHONINAE (Tryphoninae Cresson, 1887; Tryphonidae Thomson; Tryphoninae Ashmead, 1895; 1900; Ceballos, 1956. 20. Caracteres, etc. - Grupo de Ichneumonideos cujas espécies, especialmente os machos, via de regra, se distinguem das de outras famílias apenas por caracteres negativos. O 1.° urômero, geralmente sessil, é feto ou pouco incurvado, raramente peciolado, com os espiráculos na metade banal. Ovipositor muito curto ou escondido. Os Trifonineos parasitam principalmente larvas de Tenthredinideos e de Dipteros. As espécies do gênero Sphecophaga Westwood parasitam Polistes e Vespula (ninhos). Não obstante tratar-se de grupo constituído por mais de 2.000 espécies, bem poucas são as conhecidas na América do Sul quanto ao modo de vida.
Cito apenas Diplazon laetatorius (Fabricius, 1781) (fig. 20), espécie cosmopolita; hosp. larva Allograpta sp. e outros Dipteros da família Syrphidae (v. C. Lima, 1948). TOWNES, em seu Catálogo (1951), incluiu nesta subfa- mília o gênero Idiogramma Förster, com Lysiognatha Ashm., 1895 na sinonímia, que serviu de base para a subfamília Lysiognatinae elevada à categoria de família (Lysiognathidae) por VIERECK (1916). Todavia, como nas espécies dêste grupo as mandíbulas são do tipo peculiar aos Braconideos Exodontes, ASHMEAD subordinou-as aos Alysiides (1900). Hoje, porém, dado o aspecto da nervação alar, o gênero foi classifi- cado nesta subfamília. 21.
