The museum invites visitors to look at art and poetry through the prism of the form and space

of architecture. The main elements of the museum’s architecture - arch, corridor, depth, height

and contrast - symbolize a person who seeks truth, in pursuit of which he passes by answers,

not finding a direct path to them, but only hints of crooked roads. The ambiguity of choice

and end is the cause of the confusion of the spirit, but the sacred texts, which are the basis and

ubiquitous part of the exposition, should ease the swept away and lead a person to the truth,

which is

THEATRE

Re Reconstruction of the ruins in the Hermitage

Garden in Moscow

53

T H E A T R E

The Hermitage Garden is located inside the Garden Ring behind

the Boulevard Ring. It is one of the centers of Moscow life. On

the territory of the garden there are three large theaters and an

open stage. The Shchukin stage was built as a box for the future

winter theatre, the construction of which was aborted due to

the First World War. I propose to occupy the ruin by embedding

the parasitic structure of a modern theater into it. One of the

tasks for me was to preserve the areas important for the park, so

my theater does not have a foyer in the usual sense: the viewer

goes down to the level of the lobby, and then goes up the stairs

to the transformable hall . Each of the plates in the hall rises and

falls to a certain limit, cells of places on which chairs are placed

are fixed on the plates. The balconies can also be raised and

lowered, freeing up the auditorium, which in turn can be leveled

at ground level, for various kinds of exhibitions or banquets

necessary for the theatre’s economy.

RECORD LIBRARY ON LUZHNETSKY PASSAGE

Diploma project

71

72 ^^diagram from Steve Chapple’s and Reebee Galofaro’s “Rock’n’Roll is here to pay“

^^screenshot from everynoize.com

The project of the library records is a spatial representation of modern philosophical

conceptions about how cultural processes take place in the spheres of art, taking as

a basis the most non-applied, as Kandinsky called it, and therefore the most abstract

form of art - music. In connection with the globalization and liberalization of culture, as

well as the development of recording and sound synthesis technologies, music ceases

to be elite, becoming more and more a mass phenomenon, accelerating the processes

of influence of performers on each other, the genesis of genres and its distribution.

Studing music as a big data with modern methods, we can see it as a non-linear cultural

process, visualizing which, the analogy with a network of countless connections

without specific nodes comes to mind rather than the more traditional model of a tree.

The traditional typology of a library as an archive assumes the Cartesian model of

an archive in the form of a regular array of data in three dimensions. However, in my

project, I tend to abandon the direct replication of this model, giving the visitor’s space

of the library the properties of non-linearity. The space of the main hall is designed in

such a way as to encourage the user to explore. In this library you are not digging for

music, it finds you by itself.

PASKHA/MOSCOW URBAN

BLOCK

YEAR: 2020

STATUS: Conception

TYPOLOGY: Masterplan

LOCATION: Russia, Moscow, Metrogorodok district

ROLE: Architect

In this project, we offer a radical solution to the contradiction between increasing building density and a humane approach to the quality of housing. A

pure mathematical solution with further architectural articulation also refers to the traditional orthodox Slavic dish named after the Easter holiday.

The Alatyr in Russian legends and folklore is a sacred stone, the “father to all stones”, the navel of the earth, containing sacred letters and endowed with healing properties. Although

the name Alatyr appears only in East Slavic sources, the awareness of the existence of such a stone exists in various parts of the Slavdom. It is often mentioned in stories, referring to

love spells, as “a mighty force that has no end.
