Else Pedersdatter Kjærulf.12. Bertel Pedersen Kjærulf.13. Morten Pedersen Kjærulf = 5c-TCK-pg-210He continued to live in East Halne, the same parish in which hisparents lived. He was tax collector for the township of Kjær in 1596.He died about 1660. He was married to Bodil Hansdatter Mørk fromSaltumgaard, the daughter of the tax collector in Hvetbo township,Hans Mørk, and his wife, Johanne Vognsdatter, from Hæstrupgaard. Herfather belonged to an old, distinguished family of sail manufacturers(the term indicates a particular process of weighing the sails). Hermother belonged to an old aristocratic family. He married Bodil Hansd. Mørk, daughter of Hans Mørk & Johanne Vognsd.Nestrupgaard.Now we are going to leave the Kjærulf family briefly and have a lookat the family tree of the noblewoman Bodil Hansdatter Mørk fromSaltumgaard. There is royal blood in this branch of the Kjærulf family line.It seems improbable, perhaps almost comical, but it is nevertheless afact that in the person of Bodil Hansdatter Mørk we have a connectionbetween the Kjærulf family and the old Norwegian royal line. This isnot as unique as one might expect. In both Norway and Denmark thereare many families that are able to trace their lines back to OlavHaraldson and Halvdan Svarte. In the Norwegian publication "Tidskriftfor genealogi" for 1924-25 there is an article by C.M. Muntheentitled "Vore Fælles ahner" (Our Common Ancestors). In it he showsthat a number of Norwegian civil servant families are descended fromDanish noblewoman Johanne Andersdatter til Asdal (Jutland), who livedfrom 1385 to 1479. She gave birth to 18 children in two marriages, and the descendants of these can be found all over Scandinavia. Sheherself is descended from St. Olaf, so all of her descendants arealso related to him.As a curiosity we have printed the family tree for Bodil HansdatterMørk. We begin at the top and follow it backwards or down the ladder, which is the opposite of what we do with the Kjerulf line (treeincluded in the Norwegian text).
