The JAA membershiphas not been increased thisyear, but the remaining 9ECAC states (Bulgaria,Czechoslovakia, Romania,Poland, Hungary, Cyprus,Monaco, Malta and Turkey)are all potential membersentitled to join the JAAwhen and i£ they decide todo co. In addition comemembers of the Commonwealthof Independent States (CIS)have signalled that theymay want to join, besidethe growing interest fromnon-European countries asAustralia, Canada, Chinaand others. The generalfeeling is that we havelarge enough problems already, with harmonisationof maintenance standardswithin the active JAAcountries, and that thesestandards should beestablished before havingto consider other countries. The JJMB industry association~,representing thelarger operators and maintenancefacilities, havebeen totally supportive ofharmonisation efforts andthe creation of the new JAR145, whilst little or noenthusiasm has been shownat the small end of themaintenance industry.PURPOSE COOE STATUSLarge afc design JAR25 CompleteAll-weather ops JAR AWO CompleteEngine design JAR E CompletePropeller designAPU desigriJAR PJAR APUCompleteCompleteSailplanes JAR22 CompleteVery light afcdesignMaintenanceJAR VLA Completeorganizations JAR1 45 CompleteEquipment JAR TSO CompleteLight afcJAR 145 APPROVED MAINT-ENANCE ORGANISATIONSTHE CURRENT STATEOF JARS(not commuters) JAR23 Work completeCommuter afc JAR23 Stafl spring, '92)Helicopter design JAR29 Started '91 'Helicopter design JAR27 Work in handThe first JAR 145 Approvalsare now beeing issued, anda new JAA Publication - JARApproved Organisations -details the names, addresses, classes and ratingsof organisations approvedby the JAA/NAA.
