Basic Operation {A} inside front coverENDEFR 1. Keypad – Power, accuracy, units and volume. Refer to the followingIT section detailed information.ES 2. LED’s – Display the relative position of the laser beam. Five channelPTindication:NL• High – RedDA• On-grade – Green• Low – BlueNO3. Audio Speaker – Indicates the detector’s position.SV• High – Fast beepingFI• On-grade – Solid tone• Low – Slow beeping4. Level vial – Aids to keep the rod plumb when taking readings.5. Strobe Rejection – Used to reject strobe light interference.6. Laser Reception Window – Detects the laser beam. The receptionwindow must be directed towards the laser.7. LCD Window – Front and rear LCD arrow displays indicate thedetector’s position.8. On-grade – Indicates the on-grade position of the laser.9. Battery Door – Holds two “AA” alkaline batteries. New batteriesmust be installed in the positions noted inside the battery compartment.To open, use a coin to release the tab.10. Offset Notch – Use to transfer reference marks. The notch is 80 mm(3.15”) below to top of the detector.11. Standard Mounting Hole – Location to attach the detector bracketfor normal operation.12. Offset Mounting Hole – Location to attach the detector bracketspecial applications. Allows a larger display of information abovegrade and is useful when going below grade is not normally required.13. Keypad Operation {B} inside front cover1. Power Switch – Turns the detector on and off. The RE Digital will gothrough a brief (3 seconds) start-up procedure as the unit goesthrough a self-calibration procedure.Do not power up the detector while in the laser beam or in frontof a strobe light. If detected, the unit will revert to the previouscalibration.2. Units of Measure Switch – Press once to display the current unit ofmeasure. Press again to change the unit of measure. Selections aremillimeters (MM), centimeters (CM), inches (IN), fractions of an inch(FRAC) or feet (FT).3. Audio Switch – Selects the audio level. Press to select high, medium,low or off.4. Accuracy Switch – Press once to display the current accuracysetting. Press again to change the accuracy. There are five accuracysettings: ultra fine, super fine, fine, medium and coarse.5. LED Brightness – Press the Units and Audio switches together tochange the LED’s from ON-Bright, On-Normal or Off.6. Menu – Press the Accuracy and Audio switches together to enter themenu functions. Details follow in a later section.6a. In menu mode, the up arrow scrolls the menu up.6b. In menu mode, the down arrow scrolls the menu down.6c. In menu mode, the enter arrow enters or selects the option.7. Capture – Allows a reading to be recorded.Liquid Crystal Display {C} inside back cover1.
