Met this, that, these en those kun je duidelijk maken over wie of wat je het hebt:
This book is very interesting, but that book isn’t. Dit boek is interessant, maar dat boek niet .
These people are waiting for help, but those people are
ready.
Er zijn vier aanwijzende voornaamwoorden : this , that , these en those .
Deze mensen wachten op hulp, maar die mensen zijn klaar.
This en that . Het aanwijzend voornaamwoord: enkelvoud
Met this en that verwijs je naar een persoon, dier of ding. This gebruik je voor dichtbij en that voor verder weg:
Alwin has a new bike. – Is it this one over here? – No, it is
that one over there.
Alwin heeft een nieuwe fiets. – Bedoel je deze hier? – Nee,
het is die daar.
I will take this chair and you can take that chair over there. Ik pak deze stoel en jij kunt die stoel daar pakken.

Wat is het goede aanwijzend voornaamwoord? Streep het foute woord door.
1 I don’t like this / that shirt. It is too small. What about this / that yellow shirt in the window?
2 Hey, this / that is a really funny show. What do you think of it?
3 Who is this / that man across the street?
4 Can you see the Ferrari in the showroom? This / That is a really nice car!
5 I think I will have this / that sweater. It looks great on me. Don’t you agree?
6 Can you please take this / that book from the shelf? It is too high up for me.
7 You can sit over there if you like. This / That seat is free I think.
8 Hey, Ted. Look out of the window! This / That is the longest car I have ever seen!

Met these en those verwijs je naar meer mensen, dieren of dingen. These gebruik je voor dichtbij en those
voor ver weg :
These pictures are great. Those pictures are too dark. Deze foto’s zijn prima. Die foto’s zijn te donker.
Those flowers are almost dead, but these flowers are fresh. Die bloemen zijn bijna dood, maar deze bloemen zijn vers.
