▶ Een hoofdzin en een bijzin
Er zijn veel meer voegwoorden om een hoofdzin en een bijzin met elkaar te verbinden, bijvoorbeeld:
although (ondanks dat) , as (toen / omdat) , because (omdat, want) , if (als) , since (sinds / aangezien) ,
though (desondanks) , unless (tenzij) en when (wanneer):
I haven’t seen a Disney film since I was little. Ik heb sinds ik klein was geen Disneyfilm meer gezien.
Although she was tired, she went to the party. Ondanks dat ze moe was, ging ze naar het feest
She took a taxi, because it was raining. Ze nam een taxi, omdat het regende.
I was reading when the phone rang. Ik zat te lezen, toen de telefoon ging.

Zinnen met if – If I had money, I would buy a car.
Een zin met if (als, indien) betekent: Als dit gebeurt, dan .... In de if -zin beschrijf je onder welke voorwaarde
iets kan of had kunnen gebeuren:
If you wait any longer, you will be late. Als je nog langer wacht, (dan) kom je te laat.
If you buy something, you always get a receipt. Als je iets koopt, krijg je altijd een bonnetje.
If I had enough money, I would buy a car. Als ik genoeg geld zou hebben, dan kocht ik een auto.
Let op! In het stuk zin met if gebruik je géén will of would .
