Advertising copy must always be submitted as PDF
for newspaper copy is NewspaperAds_1v4, and
MagazineAds_1v4 for magazines. PDF files must be
created and checked in accordance with these standard
profiles. NewspaperAds_1v3 and MagazineAds_1v3 files
can be submitted until 1 July 2010.
The term ‘Certified PDF’ is commonly used in the
Netherlands; however, in addition to Certified PDF,
there are many other suppliers of high-quality,
certified PDF files.
For information on how to create PDF files (e.g. icc
profiles, PDF profiles and accompanying instructions),
see www.certifiedpdf.com .
Producing a good PDF file alone does not guarantee a
high-quality end product.
colour
Always use colour profiles that correspond with your
chosen printing technology. For more information, visit
www.printarena.nl and look under "kleurprofielen"
(Dutch version only). To guarantee an accurate colour
reproduction, the publisher may ask for a colour proof.
For more information, please consult the publisher's
website, or contact your publisher. A colour proof must
conform to the applicable norms (KWiK), based on
ISO 12647-3 for newspapers and ISO 12647-7 for
magazines. For instance:
- paper with a standardized colour;
- (simulation of) full colour ink;
- simulation of the behaviour of standard
production presses;
- use of Ugra Fogra print control strip to determine
the correctness of the colour proof
- the settings (profiles) must be legible on the proof
For more information on colour proofs and
requirements, see www.printarena.nl.
