The Poweredblinds initiative started in 2013<br />
when it became clear how important the<br />
internet was to window fashion. Originally,<br />
the online store was more of a marketing<br />
tool to build awareness and to indicate an<br />
acceptable RRP (=recommended retail price)<br />
level for motorisation.<br />
In the UK, this led to reasonable sales levels.<br />
A few years later, in 2017, we started to<br />
consider whether the online store could be<br />
converted into a specialised channel.<br />
Recent research shows a significant change<br />
in the market. In the UK, the biggest market<br />
for blinds in Europe, 50% of sales volumes<br />
in made-to-measure products happen online,<br />
with motorisation rates far below the<br />
market average.<br />
The online market leaders show staggering YoY<br />
growth with figures far above the market average<br />
and at the expense of traditional channels.<br />
