CLASSIFICATIONS
ADDITIONAL SAFETY FEATURES
Safety footwear standard EN345 is being superseded by EN ISO 20345. Any
footwear that has been tested to EN345 can continue to be sold, however any
new designs will have to be tested to the new standard.
Which standard your footwear is tested to is identified on the product
information label, this is found within the boot or shoe. Highest protection,
toe-caps are tested to 200 Joules.
SB Safety basic 200 Joule protection.
S1 200 Joule toe-cap protection. Closed seat region (fully enclosed heel).
Antistatic properties. Energy absorption of seat region.
S3 200 Joule toe-cap protection. Closed seat region (fully enclosed
heel). Antistatic properties. Energy absorption of seat region. Water
penetration and water absorption resistance. Plus penetration
resistance. Cleated outsole.
Should these products offer some extra protective features then the
appropriate symbol will be added. i.e. A product that provides 200 Joule
impact protection, is antistatic and has a heat resistant outsole will be
marked SB A HRO.
P Penetration resistance offered by a midsole.
C Conductive footwear.

HI Insulation against heat.
CI Insulation against cold.
E Energy absorption of seat region.
WRU Water penetration and water absorption resistance.
HRO Resistance to hot contact up to 300°C.
FO Outsole resistant to fuel & oil.
WR Water resistant footwear (code I only).
SRA Footwear is resistant to slippage on a ceramic tiled floor with
sodium Laurel sulphate lubricant.
SRB Footwear is resistant to slippage on steel with Glycerol lubricant.
SRC Footwear is resistant to slippage on steel with Glycerol lubricant
and ceramic tiled floor with sodium Laurel sulphate lubricant.
Safety Footwear
