SamenvattingDe meerwaarde van infrastructuurInfrastructuur is essentieel voor een voorspoedige ontwikkeling van de economic en heefieen duidelijke waarde voor de gemeenschap. Tech is de realisatie vaninfrastructuurprojecten vaak lastig vanwege lokale of regionale bezwaren. Sommige vandeze bezwaren kunnen worden ondervangen door de veroorzaakte hinder (in termen vanruimtegebruik) te verminderen of door aan de infiastructuur een meerwaarde te gevenHinder kan worden verminderd door infrastructuur te ‘verbergen’ of door de ruimte bovenof onder de infrastructuur voor andere activiteiten te gebruiken. Een toegevoegde waardekan worden bereikt door infrastructuur-objecten op indrukwekkende wijze vorm te geven,door aan infrastructuur een ‘strategische betekenis’ te geven of door bekende hncties rondde infrastructuur te concentreren. In deze paper worden voorbeelden van deze strategiecngenoemd en passeren nog enkele andere vormen van toegevoegde waarde de revue.Hoewel de primaire functie van infrastructuur (transport) altijd de besiissende factor zal zijnin het we1 of niet realiseren van infrastructuur, kan het toevoegen van waarde aan deinfrastructuur het implementatieproces vereenvoudigen.SummaryThe added value of infrastructureInfrastructure is essential for the development and prosperity of the economy and has anevident value for a society as a whole. Nevertheless, the realisation of infrastructure can bedifficult due to local or regional objections. Some of these objections can be diminished byreducing the hindrance (in terms of space-utilisation) that is caused by the infrastructure andits use or by giving the infrastructure an added value. Hindrance can be reduced by‘concealing’ the infrastructure or by using space above or beneath infrastructure for otherpurposes. An added value can be achieved by an impressive design of infrastructure-objects,by giving infrastructure a ‘strategic function or by allocating well-known activities aroundthe newly planned infrastructure. In this paper examples of these strategies are shown andsome additional forms of added value are mentioned. Though the primary function(transport) will always be the most important decisive factor for realising infrastructure,there are ways to add value to infrastructure which will help to smooth the implementationprocess.537
