SAMENVAlTlNGInfrastructuur en Mobiliteit in Randstad, Ruhrgebied en de regio Antwerpen-Brussel-GentIn drie studies is een vergelijking gemaakt tussen de Randstad, het Ruhrgebied en de regioAntwerpen Brussel Gent, voor wat betreft het aanbod en gebruik van infrastructuur, hetmobiliteitsgedrag van de bevolking en achterliggende factoren. Tevens is ingegaan op hetinfrastructureel investeringsbeleid in de drie regio’s. De hogere belasting van het wegennet inde Randstad blijkt veroorzaakt te worden door enerzijds een geringere aanbod aanweginfrastructuur en anderzijds een hogere mobiliteit van de bevolking. Door een gunstigerverdeling over de dag en over de vervoerwijzen valt de feitelijke congestie nog mee. Desterkere bevolkingsgroei in de toekomst maakt de situatie van de Randstad in de toekomstkwetsbaar. Daartegen over staat een forsere investeringsinspanning in de Randstad. Voor dewijze waarop die investeringen worden afgewogen lijkt Duitsland een interessant voorbeeld tekunnen bieden.SUMMARYInfrastructure and Mobility in the Randstad, the Rhein-Ruhr area and the Antwerp-Brussels-Ghent regionIn three studies a comparison is made between the Randstad, the Rhein-Ruhr area and theAntwerp-Brussels-Ghent region, on supply and use of the main road network and the travelbehaviour of the population. A smaller supply and higher mobility of the population lead to amore heavily used network in the Randstad. Because of a better spread over time of day andthe different modes, congestion levels seam not to differ too much. A faster growth of thepopulation in the future could enlarger the problems in the Randstad. Investments ininfrastructure are larger in the Randstad. Germany can be an example for the methods that areused to decide where investments are desired.741
