Neil Cartwright has found a good
way of remembering his old dog
– by keeping its ashes in his car
dashboard.
Neil Cartwright, 19, was heartbroken when
his Afghan hound Jeeves died aged 13.
They had always been together as they
grew up – and Neil couldn’t face being
parted from the dog. He said: “Jeeves was
like a brother and my best friend. When he
died I felt as if I had lost one of my family”.
He had Jeeves cremated at a pet cemetery,
put some of the ashes into a matchbox –
then put it in his Ford Escort’s ashtray. So
now Neil never leaves home without Jeeves
– even keeps his photo in his keyring. “I
feel Jeeves is nearby everywhere I go”.
