Respiratoire functie<br />
• intubatie verhoogt de weerstand en onderdrukt de fysiologische<br />
auto-peep van de stembanden (met verdere daling FRC en stijging<br />
CV)<br />
• daarom als gouden standaard dat de neonaat en de zuigeling van <<br />
3m die geïntubeerd is, moet worden beademd<br />

• relatief groot hoofd, korte nek,<br />
prominent occiput<br />
• de tong is groot, de larynx ligt meer<br />
anterieur en hoger C4<br />
• epiglottis is groot, floppy en U-vormig<br />
• nauwste punt luchtweg t.h.v het<br />
cricoid<br />
• trachea is kort<br />
• tracheaal kraakbeen is zacht en<br />
collabeert makkelijk (CPAP)<br />
• “obligate neusademhaling”<br />
