relax, another white person will drive past and say "that is typical". You say it's because
of their education that they have had.
Quincy: It is because of the education that we have received and also we were actually
taught that there is nothing as blacks that we can't do without the involvement or
instruction of the white man.

Hanlie: I also think that people who did have the drive to want to do something, decided
not to do it because they didn't see a future in doing it.
Quincy: The thing is, you are only trained to do certain things, only when the white boss
say, go and do that thing, we were taught to be instructed, unless you were instructed,
you were not able to do something or use your own initiative, because that is how we
were taught.
Hanlie: I understand what you mean, there are many people of all races who will easily
also just be sitting if nobody tell me what to do, I will do nothing. I am sure amongst the
people, history proves it, came the people who rose above it and did take care of their
own education and did lead their people to where we are today. But I was wondering if
people also did not feel why shall I bother to do something, there is no future for me in
this country. Did you ever have that feeling among you?
Quincy: That might have contributed to the situation, but the major point is that people
were taught to do things only when they are instructed to do it. Unless you come and
say... For instance the girl that is the help in your house, if you don't tell her to go and
do that thing, I know it is something of the past now, but if you don't say come now and
wash the dishes, she will not do it, or come now and make the bed, she will not do it. It
was a question of instructions all the way. Unless the misses or the boss tells you to do
something, you don't do it.
