A Day, Beyond Time
July 25 th , ’The Day, Beyond Time’ or ’the day out of time’ is celebrated worldwide since 1992. Everyone is
invited to organize during this day a festival in its own community. The Day beyond Time is auspicious for
Universal Peace, Reconciliation, and the Experience of Harmony in a New Age: an Age of Nature and
Mutual Connections.
This special day is derived from the Moon Calendar of 13 moon months, each of 28 days and nights, what
amounts to 364 days plus the 1 Day – ’Beyond’, which together make the usual 365 days of the year. The
Thirteen Months Calendar starts on the 26 th of July in line with the generally used Gregorian calendar – just
after the Day, Beyond Time.
We already discussed The One Day Peace, 21 st of September earlier in this column. The conclusion was, that
”One Peace Day” should gradually be extended to an “One Peace Week”, to an “One Peace Month” and
finally to a “Peace Year”. And when we arrive at that stage, we could have one day per year to remember
the terribly violent past – albeit virtually – to keep in our minds what never should happen again.
The “One Day Peace” has already, with “The Day, Beyond Time”, a brother – or a sister day at which
not only armistices could be remembered, but Peace should be provoked and supported particularly via
Cultural Festivals because:
“Where there is peace there is culture, where there is culture there is peace”.
A quotation by Nicholas Roerich (1874-1947), who founded with broad international support The Peace
Pact in 1935, and he also designed – being a remarkable painter – The Peace Banner.
Thus, culture can and should play an important role in the process of Peace Building.
Already in 2006, in the VredesTertsPeriodiek nr. 43 1 , we spent attention to these items, just two decades after
the International Year of Peace in 1986, [which was another important issue in that edition.]
There are many people around the world supporting various ways towards World/Peace. The challenge is
how to bundle these efforts effectively?
It seems there is no clear recipe. But we have to find ways and means for a peaceful sustainable
development both on short and long term.
There are many organizations and individuals around the world , such as the United Nations, as well as
some “United Peoples Approaches” , a World Shift Council, and various individual attempts towards World
Peace.
Again, the question arises – how to unite all these positive initiatives into a combined force which can turn
the world into a peaceful environment ?
Could perhaps the World Wide Web be an effective mechanism for bundling all the peace- initiatives into
a comprehensive all embracing effort for peace building world-wide. iIt should be organized in such a way
that there will be no other way anymore than to co-operate and collaborate honestly in solving the world
problems ?
We do hope so – and A Day, Beyond Time could possibly effectively help to bring the good intentions in the
hearts and minds of the people of the world.
