conceptionele gezondheid: de volksgezondheid, de landbouw
en de voedingssector, de industrie, het milieubeleid
(17), het onderwijsbeleid en het sociale beleid.
Het is niet altijd eenvoudig om uit te leggen dat het prenatale
bezoek begint vóór de conceptie. Deze boodschap
moeten we verspreiden bij jonge koppels, bij jonge vrouwen
en mannen. Het feit dat de preconceptionele gezondheid
begint vóór de preconceptionele consultatie, is een
boodschap die we moeten overbrengen aan de zorgverleners
en de politieke besluitvormers.
Preconceptionele gezondheid is geen nieuw idee - in het
Oude Testament werd al gesproken over ‘preconceptionele’
aanbevelingen (18) -, maar het is wel een nieuw concept
voor de geneeskunde. Het is een nieuwe benadering
in de volksgezondheid, omdat het een interdisciplinair
thema is dat ook bij de bevordering van de gezondheid
een rol speelt. Het is een nieuw paradigma, omdat het een
multisectoriële benadering impliceert. Ten slotte is het een
nieuwe filosofie, omdat het einddoel is gericht op de toekomstige
generaties en derhalve bijdraagt tot een duurzame
ontwikkeling.
