In 40-83% van de patiënten met PCIS komt pleuravocht voor en de meeste
patiënten reageren goed op een behandeling met NSAID’s of corticosteroïden.

Drainage van pleuravocht na hartchirurgie is geïndiceerd bij grote, symptoma-
tische hoeveelheden, verdenking op empyeem en persisterend pleuravocht.
Bij pleuravocht bij PCIS volstaat meestal behandeling met NSAID’s of
prednison.
