Bij geruptureerde pseudocysten in het kader van pancreatitis kunnen grote
hoeveelheden amylaserijk pleuravocht onstaan.

Bij acuut ontstaan pleuravocht moet worden gedacht aan de mogelijkheid
van een oesofagusruptuur.
Bij pleuravocht op basis van abdominale abcessen is er in principe geen
indicatie voor drainage.
Bij pleuravocht op basis van geruptureerde pancreaspseudocysten is er een
indicatie voor ontlastende pleurapuncties.
