SUMMARY To conclude, the following can be mentioned regarding the relief of and guardianship to unaccompanied minors: 1. a form of secured relief if the risk assessment shows that there are particular risks for the child’s safety, including the necessary precautions for their safety. We hereby refer to the existing centres in the Flemish and French Community that are entrusted with the reception of unaccompanied migrant children and victims of human traffi cking, namely Juna, Minor N’dako and Esperanto, where security measures and a pedagogic climate in respect of confi dence are created; 2. this could be an inspiration to the the observation and orientation centres in Steenokkerzeel and Neder-over-Heembeek that are entrusted with the initial reception of unaccompanied migrant children; 3. reserving the necessary fi nancial and personal resources; 4. a thorough permanent training of the guardian, who has a specifi c role due to his relationship based on trust with his pupil, giving attention to potential signals of diverse forms of exploitation; 5. if wanted, assistance should be allowed by a multidisciplinary team of experts in which the protection of the child is the central issue. 211
