5. Teamwork
Description
Rating Guide
0 The candidate avoids producing results. He or she abdicates personal responsibility,
seriously risking job security to do so. This may include persistent lateness and
illegitimate absences. The candidate requires close monitoring and, if left
unsupervised, he or she would likely partake in personal, not work-related, activities.
He or she “steals company time”. Continually, the candidate produces inaccurate,
incomplete, and overdue work. The candidate would likely require an inordinate level
of supervision in this area.
1 The candidate resists producing results. He or she depreciates individual responsibility
and is only motivated to perform at a minimal capacity to avoid serious conflict with
clients, peers, or supervisors. While attendance and punctuality are not chronic
problems, the candidate may manipulate the boundaries of schedules to his or her
advantage. Frequently, the candidate produces inaccurate, incomplete, or overdue
work. The candidate would likely need intensive supervision in this area.
2 The candidate is detached from his or her responsibility to produce work and is
comfortable in generating mediocre results. While he or she is usually punctual and
respectful of the employer’s schedule, he or she will indifferently compromise his or
her work efforts to fulfill non-work related needs, perhaps discounting timeframes or
work quality. The candidate’s commitment to quality is directly proportional to the
level of prodding exerted by clients, peers or the supervisor. The candidate does not
initiate and pursue work activities beyond the basic requirements that have been
specifically assigned. The candidate would need continual supervision in this area.
3 The candidate assumes responsibility for the production of results. He or she takes
individual responsibility in completing prescribed tasks accurately, thoroughly and on
time. Being delegated individual responsibility for work is a motivator to him or her.
The candidate is dependable and makes efficient use of work time to complete
structured work tasks and at times will define and initiate work beyond its basic
expectations. He or she is usually accurate, thorough, and timely. The candidate
would require routine supervision in this area.
4 The candidate actively seeks to produce results and to exceed the work requirements.
He or she dependably completes all assigned tasks and exceeds this basic expectation
by autonomously pursuing additional, challenging work. The candidate is a strong
self-starter. The candidate would require occasional supervision in this area.
5 The candidate drives to make a maximum contribution. He or she is motivated to
achieve, to be recognized, to be challenged, and to advance. The candidate holds him
or herself accountable for his or her results and displays significant levels of stamina to
work towards excellence. He or she anticipates work needs and acts as a leader in
establishing work processes and setting standards. The candidate would require
minimal supervision in this area.
Employees work in teams and their quality of work is significantly influenced by their ability to lead and follow
appropriately, support other members, and kindle team initiative. They are dedicated to the team’s goals and
they cultivate a team environment of collaboration. Unselfishly, they give credit to the collective efforts of the
team. They are perceptive of other team members needs and adapt themselves to team dynamics. They may
encourage, compromise, or challenge other members, depending on the circumstances, always with the focus to
promote team excellence.
Actively encourages team members
Attentive to the needs of others
Compromises to reach consensus
