Referaat
Bewerking is vaak nodig omdat afnemers eigen kwaliteitseisen stellen.
Abstract
This report presents the results of a desktop study on the feasibility of valorisation of nitrogen, phosphate and sodium
rich wastewater fl ows from the substrate cultivation. Disposal routes for soil cultivation, substrate crops and aquaculture
are evaluated by looking at the desired composition, logistics, legislation, market options and implementation period.
Environmental legislation states that reuse is allowed if the application is the same. For reuse in another crop, external
to the greenhouse, a license is required. To save on transportation costs, a high concentrated wastewater is needed
which preferably can be deposited near-by. Nutrient-rich slurry is a major competitor in the market. Water treatment is
often necessary because all customers have their own quality requirements. With advanced oxidation, electrochemical
fl occulation and O3 with activated carbon can partly remove germs and pesticides. Nano fi ltration and electro dialysis can,
to some extent, alter the nutrient composition. For the short term, there are opportunities for sales to fertilizer suppliers
of liquid fertilizers and fertilization of grassland. For the longer term, there are opportunities for application as additional
fertilizer application on salt-tolerant crops, provided research yields economically interesting varieties. Algae cultivation for
biofuel would eventually constitute a market, but still the type algae that performs optimally must be found.
