Development of Researcher‟s Identity<br />

Through engagement in action research and gradual self-investigation of individual researcher‟s identity as<br />

well as through reflection and interpretation of the results of this investigation, the suggested study course<br />

provides a possibility for doctoral students to assess the quantitative and qualitative aspects of this peculiar<br />

category of their social identity, to determine the relevance of their researcher‟s identity to the criteria of<br />

sustainability-oriented researcher‟s identity. The course in its essence is constructed and structured as<br />

educational action research. The central issue of this action research, theoretically and practically dealt with<br />

in the systematic process of research by means of active participation of doctoral students, is actualisation,<br />

analysis, development and reorientation of doctoral students‟ researcher‟s identity towards the criteria of<br />

sustainability-oriented identity. Therefore, this course directs the doctoral students towards research work not<br />

only on the level of rational, instrumental, and pragmatic epistemology, bet also encourages them to<br />

commence the axiologically and ontologically contextualised and sustainability-oriented investigation in<br />

pedagogy.<br />
