Development of Researcher‟s Identity

Through engagement in action research and gradual self-investigation of individual researcher‟s identity as
well as through reflection and interpretation of the results of this investigation, the suggested study course
provides a possibility for doctoral students to assess the quantitative and qualitative aspects of this peculiar
category of their social identity, to determine the relevance of their researcher‟s identity to the criteria of
sustainability-oriented researcher‟s identity. The course in its essence is constructed and structured as
educational action research. The central issue of this action research, theoretically and practically dealt with
in the systematic process of research by means of active participation of doctoral students, is actualisation,
analysis, development and reorientation of doctoral students‟ researcher‟s identity towards the criteria of
sustainability-oriented identity. Therefore, this course directs the doctoral students towards research work not
only on the level of rational, instrumental, and pragmatic epistemology, bet also encourages them to
commence the axiologically and ontologically contextualised and sustainability-oriented investigation in
pedagogy.
