Kursa anotācija angļu valodā:
The study course introduce the doctoral students to the psychological aspects of human/environment
interaction, therefore facilitating their skills of self-inquiry and reflection in relation to environment. The
course views ecopsychology in the temporal context of science, culture and education. The doctoral students
will get the possibility to analyse the different psychological approaches to the contemporary global threats to
the world, to discern the links and interaction of ecopsyhology with the most significant schools of modern
psychology. The course emphasizes the possibilities to introduce the ideas of ecopsychology in different
educational levels beginning from preschool to doctoral studies, as well as analyse the ecopsychology as an
important tool for teacher preparation for work in environmental education. The students will acquire the
concepts relevant for ecopsyhology such as biophilia, biophobia, ecological identity, motivation, values and
attitudes. The participants of this course will be asked to carry out the field research to reveal the peculiarities
of ecological values in their community and to elaborate the education strategies to overcome emerging
problems.
