The Databases section also allows access to a wide range of statistical information in the databases developed<br />

by the <strong>Ivie</strong>: Capital Stock, Human Capital, Public Sector, Abaco Observatory, EU KLEMS, Human Development,<br />

ICT R&D Macrodata, Trade Integration, Migrations, Financial Integration, Social Capital, Transition, Inequality<br />

and Life Tables.<br />

The Press Room gathers information which might be of interest to journalists and a non-specialized public<br />

about the diverse areas of research the <strong>Ivie</strong> works in. As well as press releases and other dissemination<br />

materials developed to present the work undertaken at the <strong>Ivie</strong>, a list of keywords is also provided which will<br />

give the general public a better understanding of the research areas the <strong>Ivie</strong> specialises in.<br />

The Agenda and News section offers up-to-date information on the <strong>Ivie</strong>’s activities and researchers.<br />

Furthermore, the 2.0 section brings together the social networks and media in which the <strong>Ivie</strong> is present:<br />

Wordpress, <strong>Ivie</strong>’s blog decigarrasyhormigas.com, YouTube, Twitter and SlideShare.<br />

During this year, visits to the website have reached a figure slightly higher than 431,000. Also in 2012, the<br />

website has been renewed to facilitate access to its content. The web’s address continues to be<br />

http://www.ivie.es.<br />

10.4. CIRCULATION IN PRESS AND ONLINE<br />

The <strong>Ivie</strong> has continued increasing its presence in the media, as a result of the attention given to publicising its<br />

work. This progress is clearly shown by the 1,753 news items that appeared in the press in 2012 on the<br />

research conducted at the Institute, a figure almost 20% higher than in 2011. The greatest impact took place in<br />

Internet portals and in the Spanish national press, although quite a few <strong>report</strong>s on the <strong>Ivie</strong>’s activities also<br />

appeared in the regional press outside the Valencian Region and in the financial press.<br />

The research concluded in 2012 was publicized through 18 press releases and 7 press conferences. The<br />

dissemination materials developed at the <strong>Ivie</strong> were the focus of 158 news items.<br />

172 activities by the <strong>Ivie</strong> researchers were <strong>report</strong>ed in the agenda and news section of the Insitute’s website,<br />

including the publication of articles by researchers and technicians in scientific journals, and the presentation<br />

of papers at different congresses.<br />

Also, in 2012, two videos were released of interviews with researchers who had participated in seminars<br />

organized by the <strong>Ivie</strong> and the papers of two seminars organized by the <strong>Ivie</strong> were disseminated. These videos<br />

can be seen on the <strong>Ivie</strong> Video Channel on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/user/IVIEvideos).<br />

The <strong>Ivie</strong> has carried on spreading its activities through Twitter (@ivie_news) and Slideshare, where<br />

presentations and other material developed to disseminate the research results are shared with the public. Also,<br />

new posts have been published at <strong>Ivie</strong>’s blog of economy decigarrasyhormigas.com. The blog is an initiative<br />

promoted by the <strong>Ivie</strong>, its aim being to contribute to the current debates by means of the analyses and opinions<br />

of the <strong>Ivie</strong> researchers and other institutions. It provides rigorous and high quality economic information<br />

intended for a wide audience. The blog has its own account on Twitter to disseminate the latest blog entries<br />

(@blogdecigarras).<br />
