⎯ During a conference organized by VLC/CAMPUS and held in Valencia on October 15 at the University-<br />
Enterprise Foundation (ADEIT), Francisco Pérez (<strong>Ivie</strong>, Universitat de València) and Javier Quesada (<strong>Ivie</strong>,<br />
Universitat de València) explained the ABACO project (Observatory of Knowledge-Based Activities) during a<br />
session chaired by the Rector of the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Juan Juliá. Also during this meeting<br />
the project’s website, www.observatorioabaco.es, was launched.<br />
⎯ On December 10 in Madrid, the BBVA Foundation and the <strong>Ivie</strong> presented the BBVA Foundation-<strong>Ivie</strong> 2012<br />
Report Crecimiento y competitividad. Motores y frenos de la economía española. The presentation was<br />
carried out by the BBVA Foundation Director, Rafael Pardo, and director of the study, Francisco Pérez (<strong>Ivie</strong>,<br />
Universitat de Valéncia).<br />
10.2. HUMAN CAPITAL NOTES<br />
Better use of human resources is a key factor in countries’ economic growth and competitiveness. The<br />
transition of young people to the labour market and its relationship to education and employment, and also the<br />
evolution of the educational levels and human development are complex phenomena of great social and<br />
economic relevance. Bancaja has commissioned the <strong>Ivie</strong> to conduct studies which provide fresh insight into<br />
these issues. Through the publication of the Human Capital Notes, Bancaja offers up-to-date information on<br />
this significant problem for the youth of the Valencia region.<br />
The available knowledge is made easy for everyone interested in this subject, as these publications are intended<br />
to be used as work material for teachers and the media. The writing of the educational contents takes into<br />
account the appropriateness of the language for the readers, orientation to educational activities, accessibility<br />
and frequency. In 2012, 8 Human Capital Notes were published. The following titles are available on the <strong>Ivie</strong>’s<br />

10.3. WEBSITE<br />
The <strong>Ivie</strong>’s website offers up-to-date information on the organization of the Institute, its objectives and activities.<br />
The website has been designed to be used as a regular link between the <strong>Ivie</strong> and those who may wish to use it<br />
in their study and economic research tasks.<br />
The contents of the website are structured in thematic sections with the aim of facilitating access to the<br />
information. These sections refer to the <strong>Ivie</strong> as an institution, the curricula and profiles of the people who work<br />
at and collaborate with the Institute, its publications and databases, the Institute’s research projects, the<br />
Spanish and international networks in which the <strong>Ivie</strong> participates and a section aimed specifically at the media.<br />
In the Publications section information can be accessed on the monographs prepared by the <strong>Ivie</strong>, the scientific<br />
articles published by its researchers, the <strong>Ivie</strong>’s working papers series and the various dissemination materials:<br />
