University of Madrid and the Ramón Areces Foundation. Additionally, he was speaker at the summer course
LAS REFORMAS ESTRUCTURALES DE LA ECONOMÍA: CRECIMIENTO E INVERSIÓN EN UN ENTORNO DE
AUSTERIDAD arranged by the Basque-Navarre Savings Banks Federation as part of the 24th EUROPEAN
COURSES OF THE UNIVERSITY OF THE BASQUE COUNTRY which took place in San Sebastian. In October he
participated at the CONFERENCE ‘BANK FUNDING, MARKETS, INSTRUMENTS AND IMPLICATIONS FOR
CORPORATE LENDING AND THE REAL ECONOMY’ organized by the European Central Bank, the Review of
Finance and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York in Frankfurt. He presented four papers and was discussant
at the FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION (FMA) MEETINGS, celebrated in Atlanta (USA). Finally, in
November, he presented a paper at the XXVII JORNADAS DE ALICANTE DE ECONOMÍA ESPAÑOLA arranged
by the University of Alicante.
Pilar Chorén presented on February 28 a paper in the XX FORO UNIVERSITARIO JUAN LUIS VIVES LA
ECONOMÍA DEL CONOCIMIENTO in Valencia. She also participated in the workshop IDENTIFICATION OF
CHANGE TRENDS IN CONSUMER GOODS INDUSTRIES, which was organized October 31 in Valencia by the
Biomechanics Institute of Valencia (IBV) as part of the European project PROsumer.NET.
Juan Fernández de Guevara presented a paper at the 87th WESTERN ECONOMIC ASSOCIATION
INTERNATIONAL ANNUAL CONFERENCE held in San Francisco on July 2. He was also a speaker at the I
CONGRESO IBEROAMERICANO SOBRE DESARROLLO REGIONAL: POSICIONAMIENTO MUNDIAL Y
ESTRATEGIAS and the 17.º ENCUENTRO NACIONAL SOBRE DESARROLLO REGIONAL EN MÉXICO,
AMECIDER 2012, which took place in Mexico City from September 3 to 6.
José García Montalvo was a speaker in the seminar CRISIS Y REFORMAS DE LA ECONOMÍA ESPAÑOLA: LA
REFORMA DE LA EDUCACIÓN, organized by the Cajas de Ahorros Foundation (Funcas) in Madrid, March 21.
On May 30 he delivered a presentation in the XVIII FUTURE TRENDS FORUM sponsored by the Bankinter
Innovation Foundation in Madrid. He participated in a round-table debate in the 12th COLLOQUIUM ‘SECTOR
PÚBLICO-GESTIÓN PRIVADA: POLÍTICAS PÚBLICAS PARA LA REACTIVACIÓN” in Barcelona, June 14. He
was a speaker at the 42nd ANNUAL CONFERENCE OF THE INSTITUTE FOR POLICY STUDIES-JOHNS
HOPKINS UNIVERSITY, celebrated in Paris from June 17 to 20. On July 5-6, he participated in the 22 FORUM
AUDITOR DEL PROFESIONAL in Sitges (Barcelona). He was a speaker at the REAL ESTATE AND MORTGAGE
FINANCE SIFR CONFERENCE held in Stockholm on August 20-21. On October 17 he participated in the
debate DIÁLOGOS SOBRE REFORMA ECONÓMICA Y COHESIÓN SOCIAL, organized in Barcelona by the
Ernest Lluch Foundation in collaboration with CaixaForum. On October 19 he presented a paper at the
BARCELONA MEETING POINT. He also gave a lecture on ENHANCING THE ATTRACTIVENESS OF
EUROPEAN UNIVERSITIES AS DESTINATION OF WORLD CLASS RESEARCHERS sponsored by the European
Research Council and the Pompeu Fabra University on November 5. In November he also presented the paper
BANCO MALO Y MERCADO INMOBILIARIO at the Círculo de Economía in Barcelona.
Belén Gill de Albornoz gave two seminars at the University of Murcia that were part of the university master
course on RESEARCH ON BUSINESS ECONOMICS. She also gave three seminars at the University of
Barcelona programmed in the INVESTIGACIÓN EN EMPRESA, FINANZAS Y SEGUROS master course, in May.
In August, she was a speaker at the 2012 ANNUAL MEETING OF THE AMERICAN ACCOUNTING
ASSOCIATION celebrated in Washington.
Francisco J. Goerlich presented a paper at the ‘TRANSPORTATION, POPULATION AND SOCIOECONOMIC
INDICATORS FOR EUROPEAN INTEGRATION ANALYSIS (1870-2010)’ WORKSHOP hosted by the Faculty of
Geography and History of the University of Barcelona on March 8. From 21 to 25 May, he gave a course on
GEOSTATISTICS at the Spanish Statistical Office in Madrid. On June 14 and 15, he took part in the WP5
HEALTH WORKSHOP programmed by the INDICSER project which was hosted by the National Institute of
Economic and Social Research in London. He was also a speaker at the INDICSER END-OF-PROJECT
CONFERENCE celebrated in Budapest on September 27 and 28. October 26, he presented a paper at the
EFGS 2012 PRAGUE CONFERENCE held in Budapest. He was a speaker at the XXXVIII REUNIÓN DE
