As a result of a study carried out in the framework of the program by the BBVA Foundation and the <strong>Ivie</strong> and<br />
recently published by the BBVA Foundation, both these institutions organized in Valencia on December 14th a<br />
seminar titled UNIVERSITIES, GRADUATES AND PRODUCTIVITY. In addition, it counted with the collaboration<br />
of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Valencia. The seminar was coordinated by Francisco Pérez<br />
(<strong>Ivie</strong>, Universitat de Valencia and <strong>Ivie</strong>), who is the main author of the aforementioned study. The main purpose<br />
of the seminar was to discuss the current situation of Spanish Universities focusing on the following questions:<br />
how does the current Spanish university system compare with other countries, if there are major differences<br />
between universities, what are the teaching and research results for Spanish universities, if their teaching<br />
performance and research productivity are satisfactory, what characteristics can be found in the labour<br />
transition of graduates, if university studies are productive for them and for the country. The seminar was<br />
formally opened by Vicent Soler, Dean of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Valencia, and closed by<br />
Esteban Morcillo, rector of the University of Valencia. Vicent Soler, Miguel Ángel Fernández (Polytechnic<br />
University of Valencia) and Ismael Sanz (National Institute of educational evaluation) chaired the 3 sessions that<br />
were held around the topics analyzed:<br />

Francisco Alcalá was speaker at the V CICLO DE CONFERENCIAS DE ECONOMÍA INTERNACIONAL 2012 that<br />
was organized by the Chair for International Economics of the Faculty of Business and Economics of the<br />
University of Zaragoza on April 19.<br />
Joaquín Aldás gave the seminar THE ROLE OF CONFIRMATORY TETRAD ANALYSIS IN THE FORMATIVE VS.<br />
REFLECTIVE LATENT CONSTRUCTS DEBATE, included in the Business and Economic Research master<br />
course programmed by the University of Salamanca on February 27. He also gave the seminar<br />
INTRODUCCIÓN A LA MODELIZACIÓN ESTRUCTURAL at the Miguel Hernández University in Elche (Alicante)<br />
on June 4 and 6. In September he was speaker at the XXIV CONGRESO NACIONAL DE MARKETING which<br />
took place in Palma de Mallorca. He directed the seminar TÉCNICAS MULTIVARIANTES DE ANÁLISIS DE<br />
DATOS that was given at the CEGEA in the Polytechnic University of Valencia during the months of November<br />
and December. In December he gave the seminar INTRODUCCIÓN A LA MODELIZACIÓN ESTRUCTURAL Y<br />
MODELOS MULTIMUESTRA at the University of the Basque Country and the University of Vigo.<br />
