• THE PUBLIC FUNDING OF THE VALENCIAN COMMUNITY AND ITS ECONOMIC IMPACT (2011-
2012)
The Valencian Association of Entrepreneurs (AVE) has entrusted the Ivie to draw up a report that assesses the
financial situation of the Valencian Government, the causes of its persistent deficit and high public debts, as
well as the consequences of this situation for the Valencian region and its economy. The approach of the study
responds to the following issues:
⎯ The reasons for the permanent deficit and the high levels of debt of the Valencian Government, in
GDP and in per capita terms;
⎯ The level of per capita expenditure of the Valencian Community, total and by the main assets such as
health or education, in comparison with the rest of the Spanish regions;
⎯ The reasons why the Spanish regional financing system provides the different territories with different
resources per capita and why the revenues of the Valencian Community are among the lowest;
⎯ The weight of the public sector in the Valencia region, in comparison with the other autonomous
communities and with other countries;
⎯ The region’s capacity to promote economic development and to overcome the crisis.

• MACRODATA AND ANALYSIS OF R&D IN THE ICT SECTORS (2012)
The Joint Research Centre of the European Commission, the Institute for Prospective Technological Studies
(IPTS), has commissioned the Ivie the construction of a comprehensive data bank on the R&D activities of the
ICT sectors for the EU-27 and other non-European reference countries (Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, India,
Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and the United States), according to the definitions provided by the OECD. Some of
the data has been incorporated into the ICT R&D Macrodata database and analyzed in The PREDICT 2012
Report: An Analysis of ICT RD-EU and Beyond. In addition the Ivie has developed a methodology for the
transition between the NACE Rev. 1.1 and NACE Rev. 2 classifications and produced several documents on the
sources and procedures used.

• INITIATIVES FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF PRODUCTIVITY IN ARAGON (2012)
The object of this report drawn up for the Economic and Social Council of Aragon is to present a set of
proposals for the improvement of productivity in Aragon. The report has been based on the recommendations
of a previous monograph carried out for the Council, Análisis para la mejora de la productividad en Aragón, and
on the ideas discussed in the meetings of sectoral committees. The report contains the measures which are
likely to significantly improve the productivity of the region and ensure the sustainable growth of the Aragonese
economy.
