Ernest Reig (Universitat de València)<br />

Dr Reig graduated and obtained his PhD in Economics from the Universitat de València, where he is<br />

Professor of Applied Economics. His fields of specialization are regional economic analysis, agroalimentary<br />

economics and the analysis of efficiency and productivity in the presence of environmental effects. At present<br />

he is studying the multi-functional nature of European agriculture, and the calculation of sustainability<br />

indexes. He has published several books, among them La multifuncionalidad de la agricultura en España<br />

(Ministry of Agriculture-EUDEMA, 2007) and La sostenibilidad del crecimiento económico en España<br />

(Funcas, 2011). He is author of over 30 articles in various specialized journals such as Agricultural<br />

Economics, Agricultural Systems, Applied Economics, Economic Modelling, Environmental and Resources<br />

Economics, International Journal of Production Economics, Investigaciones Económicas, Papeles de<br />

Economía Española, Resource and Energy Economics and Revista de Economía Aplicada. He was research<br />

scholar at the London School of Economics in 1983-84, and Director of the Instituto Valenciano de Economía<br />

of the Institución Valenciana de Estudios e Investigación, from 1986 to 1991. He is member of the Advisory<br />

Board of Revista Española de Estudios Agrosociales y Pesqueros and of the Editorial Board of Investigaciones<br />

Regionales. He is the main researcher on the project Indicadores sintéticos de sostenibilidad para la mejora<br />

de la gobernanza del sector agrario (AGL2010-17560-C02-02) of the National R&D Plan. In 1997 he was<br />

awarded the VI Premi Catalunya d’Economia (Prize in Economics of Catalonia) by the Societat Catalana<br />

Lorenzo Serrano (Universitat de València)<br />

Dr Serrano is an Associate Professor at the Universitat de València where he graduated in Economics in<br />

1991 (with special honors) and received his PhD in 1998 (with special honors). He also obtained a degree in<br />

Monetary Economics at the Centre of Financial and Monetary Studies in Madrid (1993). His work covers<br />

topics such as growth, human capital and regional economics. He has had scholarships at the Bank of<br />

Spain (1991-1993) and the Ministry of Education of the Valencian Regional Government (2001). He has also<br />

been Research Fellow at the SOM Research School of the University of Groningen (2000-2001). He has<br />

jointly published 18 books and more than 30 articles in Spanish (Investigaciones Económicas, Moneda y<br />

Crédito, Revista Española de Economía, Revista de Economía Aplicada, among others) as well as in<br />

international reviews (Applied Economics, Economics Letters, Journal of Productivity Analysis, International<br />

Journal of Transportation and Statistics, Regional and Sectoral Economic Studies, Regional Studies, Review<br />

of International Economics, Transportation, among others). He is associate researcher on the research<br />

project Productividad y competitividad en la sociedad del conocimiento: desarrollo metodológico y análisis<br />

Ezequiel Uriel (Universitat de València)<br />

Dr Uriel, Professor Emeritus at the Universitat de València, took his degree and PhD at the Complutense<br />

University of Madrid. His specialized fields are the labor market, statistical information systems and forecasting<br />

techniques. He has published 26 books individually and in collaboration with others, on statistical and<br />

econometric methods and the labor market, and is author of over 50 articles in specialized journals such as<br />

Estadística Española, Investigaciones Económicas, Cuadernos del ICE, Anales de Economía, Moneda y Crédito,<br />

Revista de Economía Aplicada, Review of Income and Wealth, International Review of Law and Economics and<br />

Papeles de Economía Española. He was a Visiting Fellow at Warwick University in 1988-1989, Guest Lecturer at<br />

the Harvard School of Business in 1979 and Visiting Professor at the University of Berkeley (2000-2001).<br />

Fernando Vega-Redondo (European University Institute, Florence)<br />

Dr Vega-Redondo has a degree in Economics from the Complutense University of Madrid and a PhD in<br />

Economics from the University of Minnesota. He is currently Professor at the European University Institute in<br />

Florence. His research interests are focused on the field of networks, game theory, learning, and their<br />

applications to evolutionary processes such as growth and institutional change. His more than 70 published<br />

articles can be found in journals such as Econometrica, Economics Letters, Games and Economic Behavior,<br />

International Economic Review, International Journal of Economic Theory, International Journal of Game<br />

Theory, Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, Journal of Economic Theory, Journal of Evolutionary<br />
