UselisSummaryIn 1988–2008 at the Lithuanian Institute of Horticulture trade strawberry growing technologieswere created and improved taking into account the economic and social-demographic conditionsin our country. During investigations there were studied strawberry growing, developmentand yielding biology and the main strawberry business aspects were grounded economically.During this period, scientific investigations allowed the transition from extensive non-rationalstrawberry growing technologies to very intensive ones, grounded economically. The neweststrawberry growing technologies guarantee the abundant good quality dessert berry yield eventat the f<strong>ir</strong>st year after planting. When the average berry price in the market is 5–6 Lt kg -1 , it ispossible to pass to the growing of annual strawberry in Lithuania also and so guarantee thesupply of big excellent quality berries to local market and export.Key words: strawberry, growing technologies, cultivars, yield, berry quality.164
