ÐabajevienëSummaryPhenology, growth, resistance to scab (Venturia inaequalis (Cke) Wint.), appleblotch (Phyllosticta mali Pr. at Del.) and photosynthetic pigments of fruits were studiedin 13 new apple (Malus domestica Mill.) cultivars at the Lithuanian Institute ofHorticulture in 2000-2005. Trees were grafted on rootstock M.26 at a spacing of4 x 2.5 m.Investigations showed that cvs. Bolotovskoje, Jerseymac, Orlinka, Orlovskaja zariaand Orlovskoje polosatoje blossomed early, Cortland apple tree – late. The results of theflower resistance to frost showed that cv. Raneje letneje are highly resistant. Winterhardy are apple shoots of cvs. Cortland and Orlinka. The weakest growth was in trees ofcvs. Arkad Rozovyj, Jerseymac, Cortland, Orlovskoje polosatoje and Red Kroft. Cvs.Bolotovskoje, Kurnakovskoje and Kandil Orlovskyj are immune to scab. Cvs. KandilOrlovskyj, Pamiatj Semakinu, Kurnakovskoje, Orlinka and Bolotovskoje are resistant toapple blotch. More photosynthetic pigments accumulated in the leaves of apple treecvs. Pamiatj Semakinu and Red Kroft. More soluble solids were estimated in apple treesof cv. Orlovskaja zaria, less – in the leaves of cv. Cortland.Key words: apple, cultivars, growth, phenology, photosynthetic pigments,resistance to diseases.12
