SCIENTIFIC ARTICLES. 2009. 28(2).Influence of supplementary boron fertilizer on red beet yield and storageO. Bundinienė, V. Zalatorius, P. ViškelisSummaryInvestigations of supplementary boron fertilizer were carried out at the Lithuanian Instituteof Horticulture, in calcaric epihypogleyic luvisol of sandy loam on light loam soil (IDg8-k /Calc(ar)i- Epihypogleyc Luvisols – LVg-p-w-cc)in 2005–2007. There was in the soil littleamount of humus and nitrogen, big amount of phosphorus, calcium and magnesium, averageand big amount of potassium, small and average amount of boron; the soil was alkaline. Storageinvestigations were carried out at the LIH Biochemistry and Technology laboratory, in thedepository, in 2005–2008. There was investigated the influence of supplementary boron fertilizeron productivity and production storability of different red beet species (Beta vulgaris L.var. conditiva Alef.).Supplementary boron fertilizer more influenced the yield of red beet hybrids, and theinfluence of fertilizer on red beet cultivar ‘Kamuoliai 2’ was smaller. Applying supplementaryfertilization through leaves with Boramin Ca and Lyderis®Bor there was obtained the biggeststandard red beet ‘Boro’ F 1yield – correspondingly 37.9 and 38.1 t ha -1 , and fertilizing withTradebor – the biggest yield of cultivar ‘Kamuolių 2’ (33.3 t ha -1 ). The output of standard yieldwas correspondingly 77,9; 75,8 and 70,3 %.The biggest amounts (26,7 and 25,9 t ha -1 ) of marketable production of red beet cultivar‘Boro’ F 1were obtained storing red beet fertilized with Boramin Ca and Lyderis®Bor almostfor seven months. Storage losses comprised correspondingly 29.8 and 31.7 %.The biggest amounts of marketable production of red beet cultivar ‘Kamuoliai 2’ (26.8and 26.3 t ha -1 ) were obtained storing red beet fertilized with Boramin Ca and Lyderis®Bor.Storage losses were correspondingly 19.0 and 19.3 %.Key words: boron fertilizer, red beet, yield, storage, supplementary fertilizer, marketableproduction.72
