LanauskasSummaryField experiment was performed at the Lithuanian Institute of Horticulture in 2004–2008.2, 4, 6, 8 and 10-year intervals have passed from the old orchard grubbing till the new one establishment.Field crops and vegetables were grown in the field during time up to replanting.‘Šampion’ apple trees on rootstock B.396 replanted after 6 and 8 years grew most vigorous:their trunk diameter at the end of the study was respectively 4.2 and 4.3 cm. ‘Šampion’apple trees replanted after the shortest and the longest period grew worse. ‘Rubin’ apple treeson rootstock P 60 grew most vigorous when replanted after 6 years: their trunks were 5.1 cmin diameter.‘Šampion’ apple trees on rootstock B.396 replanted after 6 and 8 years produced the highestthree-year average yield – respectively 15.9 and 16.3 t ha -1 . The yield of ‘Šampion’ apple treesreplanted just after old orchard grubbing or after ten-year period was lower – 10.9–10.6 t ha -1 .Yield of ‘Rubin’ apple trees in all cases was similar – 10.5–11.9 t ha -1 .The highest yield efficiency of ‘Šampion’ apple trees was in the orchard replanted after6 years, the one of ‘Rubin’ – when replanted after 10-year break. ‘Šampion’ produced the largestapples in the orchard replanted after 4 years. Average fruit weight of ‘Rubin’ apples wassimilar in all cases.Key words: apple trees, rootstocks, trunk diameter, yield, yield efficiency, fruitweight.27
