SCIENTIFIC ARTICLES. 2009. 28(2).Assimilation indexes of cultivar ‘Auksis’ on rootstock P 22 with differentcrown formsG. Šabajevienė, N. Uselis, P. DuchovskisSummaryAssimilation indexes and photosynthetic pigment content in apple tree leavesof cv. ‘Auksis’ on P 22 rootstock had been investigated at the Lithuanian Institute ofHorticulture in 2005–2007. Apple trees were trained as spindle, slender spindle and freeleader axis. Orchards were planted according to 3 × 1 m planting scheme. Significantlyhighest assimilation indexes were detected in apple trees trained as free leader axis. Jnthe first year of investigation the higher number of flowers and yield were formed on freeleader axis form trees. In 2006 and 2007 the highest yield and flowering were found inapple trees with narrow size slender spindle canopies, in which leaf area index was ~1.Key words: apple tree, assimilation indexes, leaf area index, canopy form, photosyntheticpigments, yield.19
